Infra-red colour photography and Phragmites communis Trin.. 1979. Polskie Archiwum Hydrobiologia. 26, 6572.
Infra-red colour photographs are taken at 520-900 nanometers. On these, Phragmites communis Trin. is unusual in that different clones show up as Red, Pink, Green or any intermediate between these. This character appears to be inherited independently of any of the ordinary physical variables of the clones. Red is typical of inland reed beds, Green of estuarine ones, and Pink is intermediate. The photographs are useful for studying competition between clones of different colours.
